Colon hydrotherapy is the procedure of gently washing the colon to cleanse it from toxins that have accumulated from consuming processed foods, sugar, bad fats, and animal proteins. It’s believed that these foods form a buildup in the colon which produces harmful toxins which may then enter the body through blood circulation. This may lead to a variety of symptoms in some people such as low energy and fatigue, weight gain, or headaches and may also weaken the body’s immune system resulting in chronic disease.
The colon hydrotherapy procedure is simple and painless and takes about 45 minutes to complete – a small tube is inserted into the rectum through which water is gently introduced into the colon, flushing it out. Some hydrotherapy sessions will include the addition of additives to the water, such as enzymes, herbs, probiotics, or vitamins. After the colon has been flushed, the next step is a complete evacuation of the bowel, cleansing it of all fluids, toxins, and wastes.
After undergoing a colon cleanse, many people feel refreshed and more energetic. Some of the goals behind colon cleansing include boosting the immune system, weight loss, and improving mental clarity, many people Cl often perceive less bloating and constipation as well as improvement in IBS conditions.
Colon hydrotherapy is not a new procedure. Enemas and rituals involving the washing of the colon with water have been used since pagan times. The first record mentioning colon cleansing is an Egyptian medical papyrus dated as early as 1500 B.C., which shows that the Egyptians employed purgatives, enemas, diuretics, heat, and steam to treat diverse diseases.
Ancient and modern tribes in the Amazon, Central Africa and remote parts of Asia have used river water for bowel cleansing, usually as part of magic-medical rites of passage performed by priests or shamans. Colon cleansing therapies was an important part of Taoist training regimens.
Hippocrates, Galen and Paracelsus, who are recognized as the founding fathers of Western medicine, described, practised and prescribed the use of enemas for colon cleansing.
With the rapid advancement of pharmaceutical approaches to treating various conditions, natural forms of healing, including colon cleansing, had suffered a temporary setback. However, the pharmaceuticals have failed to deliver a neatly packaged ‘pop and go’ solution to annoying and tiring digestive complaints, such as malabsorption caused by underlying stress, constipation, bloating, recurrent yeast infections, dysbiosis, intestinal discomfort etc.
So, having travelled the full circle, we are back to natural healing. Now, having moved to the fringes of mainstream medical practice, colon hydrotherapy is fast becoming, yet again, one of the most popular holistic treatments.
Food intolerance testing
The service utilises state of the art immunoassay microarray technology to detect food-specific IgG antibodies to a large variety of different foods.
Food extracts are 'printed' onto nitrocellulose 'pads'™ on a glass microscope slide, together with calibration standards and controls. A blood sample provided by the patient is diluted and dispensed onto each printed microarray. Food IgG antibodies, if present, bind to the food extracts and the results are measured by a high-resolution scanner, before being calibrated against the standards using the FoodPrint reporting software to give quantitative results. This software then produces a tailor-made printout of the final food IgG antibody result for each food on the requested food panel.
The therapist will take a small sample of blood from the finger and send off to the labs where results will normally return within 48 hours.
